In the last couple of years no other bill has caused such heated discussion in the Turkish parliament as this package of domestic security measures. The biggest opposition party CHP and the pro-Kurdish HDP were especially outraged. Their members of parliament made angry speeches, they protested by organising a sit-in in parliament and twice government and opposition MP’s attacked each other physically. The resistance was in vain: on 27 March the package was adopted.
